Relaxing in Big Timber

#vanlife .

I had never heard of Big Timber more than a couple of weeks ago when I started to search for a place we could stay for week.  Seven weeks on the road was wearing both of us down.  Every morning breakfast, pack up and move on.  Every afternoon, a wonder of where we park our home for the night.  And every day it was move one thing to get to another.  We were beginning to snap at each other for just about everything.

The Metcalf Ranch Bunk House looked like the perfect place to park Sparty, spread out and not worry about where we would sleep every night.   For 3 days we just hung out, enjoying the front porch and sifting through all of that paper we picked up at every stop.  We had pamphlets on how to make a claim on public land if I found gold, maps of states we had passed through and newspapers from weeks ago.  I also had a few weeks of blogs to catch up with.

Cold beer, air conditioning, satellite TV and a good internet connection – what more could you want?  Cell service.   However calls on AT&T where just a 5 minute walk up the driveway.

Mrs Ram found time to paint.

After 3 days of not moving we made it into Big Timber for a walk through the center and a milkshake at Cole’s Drug Store counter.

The Two Rivers Art Gallery had some interesting pieces using barbed wire. And the people were very friendly.  We went back on Friday night for the silent auction.  There was free wine and food but I swear I was just there for the art.
