Jury Duty

#vanlife .

As nomads we travel all the time. But Massachusetts keeps dragging us back. Medical is one reason. Jury duty us another.

Mr Ram received his initial summons for a date when we were in Arizona. He was able to go online and reschedule. Since we already knew Medical May was coming, why not add jury duty to it.

On his appointed day, Mrs Ram drop me off in Taunton. I had left my knife in Sparty so I was quickly through security and up to the 3rd floor

I handed in my card and received my number – 12. There were 8 people in the room. I wondered about the Commonwealth’s ability to count.

In the end there 14 of us so I guess the numbers were preassigned.

After a 20 min video that told us how important we were to the judicial process, the clerk told us there was only one case.

We sat around all morning in silence. My phone battery was not up to the extended use so I move near an outlet and plugged in.

Just before noon, the clerk came in and said they did not need us. By the time I unplugged my charging cord and rolled it up, I was the only one left in the room. I guess no one wanted to give them a chance to change their mind.
